To capture the attention of 12–27-year-olds, we created a campaign that frames AT&T as the must-have connection for Gen Z. Understanding that this generation deeply values staying connected, and feels the impact when they’re not, our approach moves beyond product features to focus on emotional storytelling, showing how AT&T reliably keeps users linked to the people, moments, and experiences that matter most.
Methodology
Primary Research:
• Conducted consumer research across 23 states, surveying over 500 individuals ages 17–26 to understand service provider preferences and brand loyalty.
• Conducted in-depth conversations with over 80 individuals ages 12–27 to understand their personal views on AT&T and the telecom industry.
Secondary Research:
• Researched secondary sources to analyze AT&T’s business performance, advertising strategies toward Gen Z, and audience growth over time.
• Compared AT&T with major competitors T-Mobile and Verizon, examining pricing, 5G network offerings, and nationwide coverage to identify key market differentiators.
Problem
In a market where all major carriers offer similar speed and coverage, AT&T’s challenge was to make Gen Z want the brand, not for its features, but for how it makes them feel connected.
Insight
Our research revealed that Gen Z connects more deeply with emotion than information.
Rather than focusing on AT&T’s features, a campaign centered on emotional storytelling would resonate more strongly. This led us to explore how Gen Z feels about connection—its presence, its absence, and its impact on their daily lives.

Strategy
Turn AT&T’s promise of “Connecting Changes Everything” into an emotional experience for Gen Z. Through playful, real-world moments of “buffering” in real life, we show how AT&T keeps life connected—online and off.
Commercials
Our spots playfully exaggerate what life looks like when digital connections are lost, bringing AT&T’s tagline to life in bold, relatable ways. Each ad concludes by reinforcing that AT&T is there for Gen-Z, demonstrating an understanding of their need for a reliable connection.
Digital
To extend our commercials across social platforms, we created Instagram Reels, Snapchat videos, and TikToks, turning our actors into faux-influencers. Each piece adopts a format familiar to Gen-Z, including popular trends like Get-Ready-With-Me.
Complementing these dynamic assets, we designed static Instagram posts and billboards that mirror the concept of our commercials. Using visuals of real-life disconnections, we communicate to Gen-Z that AT&T understands their need to stay constantly connected to the world around them.
